Eisenhower Middle School Choir
General Admission
Formed in 2011, General Admission is Eisenhower's 6th grade beginning chorus. This group is not auditioned and performs at the fall, winter, pre-festival, and charity concerts, as well as participates in the District VII Music Performance and Assessment Festival in March.Mixed Choir
Mixed Choir is a beginning and intermediate chorus for 7th and 8th graders. They perform at the fall, winter, pre-festival, and charity concerts, as well as participate in the District VII Music Performance and Assessment Festival in March.
Concert Choir
2016 NMMEA Honor Choir
Concert Choir is the varsity concert chorus at Eisenhower, made up of 60+ advanced 7th and 8th graders who auditioned for the group in the previous semester. They consistently receive superior ratings at contests and festivals, and were awarded the NMAA State Championship title in 2013, 2014, and 2015. They were also named the 2016 NMMEA Honor Choir and will perform a special concert at Popejoy Hall on January 7th, 2016. They sing a wide variety of music at a very fast pace, often singing music as a women's ensemble or a men's ensemble in addition to the music they learn mixed. Concert Choir performs at the fall, winter, pre-festival, and charity concerts, as well as competes in the NMAA State Choir Contest. Concert Choir also sings at the Music Performance and Assessment Festival.
Vocal Ensemble
Vocal Ensemble is an auditioned group of 20 singers who meet once a week on Fridays after school to learn advanced literature will 4-8 part harmony. They are brand new ensemble starting in 2015, and will perform at the pre-festival concert, at the Music Performance and Assessment Festival, and at the spring charity concert. In the future, they may enter acapella festivals and other small ensemble functions.
Dance Ensemble
Dance Ensemble, brand new this year, is the first non-vocal group as part of the choir program. They are led and choreographed by Susia Ruddell, and meet outside of Eisenhower every week to learn advanced movement and dance concepts. Dance Ensemble has 12 auditioned members, and will perform at the winter concert, the Eisenhower Show Choir Showcase, and the spring charity concert.
Starburst Women's
Show Choir
Formed in 2013, Starburst is a girls only show choir that meets Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. It is made up of 50+ girls of all three grades and is non-auditioned. They are currently the only middle school girls group in the state of NM. In 2015 Starburst received first place in the Unisex MS division at the La Cueva Classic Invitational and 2nd place at the state "Showfest" competition.
Starburst is assistant directed and choreographed by Susia Ruddell. They will be performing at the Halloween Showcase, the Eisenhower Show Choir Showcase, and will compete in the state "Showfest" competition, as well as the La Cueva Classic Invitational, Volcano Vista Invitational, and the West Mesa Invitational.
Mike & Ikes Men's
Show Choir
Brand new in 2014, Mike & Ikes (We like Ike!) is a show choir just for the boys at Eisenhower. M&I is open to all three grades, is non-auditioned, and meets every Friday morning before school. In 2015 M&I received 2nd at the La Cueva Classic, and took 1st place at the state "Showfest" competition. This year, M&I will perform at the Halloween Showcase, the Eisenhower Show Choir Showcase, the state "Showfest" competition, and the La Cueva Classic Invitational, Volcano Vista Invitational, and the West Mesa Invitational.
Five Star Show Choir
Five Star Show Choir is the advanced, auditioned mixed show choir made up of 44 singer/dancers in all three grades. Meeting before school Mondays through Thursdays, Five Star learns a huge amount of varied music and choreography to perform at various venues all year long. For the past three years, Five Star has taken home 1st place at the state "Showfest" competition. Five Star is the first choir in NM history to receive Grand Champion at an out-of-state show choir competition, taking home Best Showmanship and Best Musicianship at the 2014 Los Alamitos "Xtravaganza" in Los Alamitos, CA. In April of this year, Five Star took second place at the prestigious John Burroughs Music Showcase in Burbank, CA for the Middle School Mixed Show Choir division.
Five Star will perform at the Halloween Showcase, perform at the winter concert, carol at various events in December, perform at the Eisenhower Show Choir Showcase, and compete in the state "Showfest" competition, the John Burroughs HS "Showcase, " as well as the La Cueva Classic Invitational, Volcano Vista Invitational, and the West Mesa Invitational.
