Middle School Choir Concert program

This class is designed for 6th grade boys and girls to participate in a musical ensemble that will teach them the basics of singing fundamentals and basic music theory fundamentals through repertoire that is experience and age appropriate. Unison, 2-part and 3-part singing will be developed through this course as well as opportunities for solos as selections allow. This is a performance based ensemble. Concerts and off campus performances will be required.

• Fall Choir Concert
• Yuletide Christmas Celebration
• Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Middle School Organizational Contest & Festival
• Spring Choir Concert

7th Grade Choir

This class is designed for 7th grade boys and girls to participate in a music ensemble that will be focused on proper reading of music notation and terms and will allow the students to sing music from a wide repertoire of 2 and 3 part songs. Through the choir the students will develop a deeper appreciation for music through singing in a variety of languages of the world. This is a performance based ensemble. Concerts and off campus performances will be required.

8th Grade Choir

This class is designed for 8th grade boys and girls to participate in a music ensemble that will challenge them to focus on proper vocal production as well as reading music notation, terms and symbols. They will sing a very diverse repertoire that will cover world languages and singing in 3 part and SATB songs. The students will have opportunity to sing solos and be featured as the selections allow. This is a performance based ensemble. Concerts and off campus performances will be required.

Advanced Women’s Chorus – “Bel Canto”

“Bel Canto” is the auditioned women’s concert and women’s show choir. Since their beginning they have been performing for various civic and community events. In 2013, “Bel Canto” was an ISSMA State Show Choir Finalist. This ensemble works to achieve excellence in all that they do through singing challenging music in 4 or more parts. “Bel Canto” also competes at both the concert and show choir levels. There are required after school rehearsals as well as many performances throughout the school year on and off campus.
